"The existential climate crisis, the polarization of our politics, the un-reigned corporate hegemony, the growing economic disparity, relentless cruelty of social media - all contribute to a growing sense of dread and the breakdown of our social structuresMore and more, I look for ways to find humanity in the day to day.  Through photography, I hope to highlight the natural beauty that surrounds us, the acts of kindness, the positive efforts on the environment.  In this way, I hope to find connections to people, nature and community, fight my growing sense of unease, and in some small way help re-establish our connections to nature and each other."
Max Kantzer started creating photographs while he was in high school in New York City.  His early photographs were of friends and family with a well-used Zeiss Ikon 35mm rangefinder that his father gave him. Max has since developed an interest in street photography, environmental portraits, wildlife, and natural landscapes.  He has experimented with creating abstract images, creative compositing, and various printing techniques. Most recently, he has been trying his hand at photo essays and video.
Max studied photography at Metropolitan Community College in Omaha Nebraska and at Colorado Mountain College in Breckenridge Colorado.  He took classes in photographic techniques, film processing and printing, photojournalism, and creative printing methods such as dye transfer process, pinhole and camera-less photography. He has attended a variety of workshops to enhance his photography skills
Max’s images have garnered awards, have been exhibited in juried group shows and have been included in digital exhibits.  His images have been awarded Best of Year People’s Choice and Top Ten Digital Images of the Year and have received awards in various competitions.
